INJURY KNOCKS OUT RIBERY OUT BRAZIL 2014

The world awaits the kick off at Brazil 2014 on Thursday. The FIFA world cup fever is every where. The air traffic at Rio and other Brazilian airports is unbelievable. The football fiesta begins in earnest with first match of the tournament is between Brazil and Croatia on June 12.

There are so many football stars that will grace the event. Key among them are Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo,Neymar Jnr,Iniesta, Wayne Rooney, Yaya Toure, Arjen Roben   among others. However, some big stars like Radamel Falcao will not be there for Colombia due to injury. Painfull the latest addition is Frank  Ribery of France.This is a big blow to France' ambition to win the trophy they last won on home soil in 1998.

ARSENAL WINS 4TH SPOT IN BPL, THANKS TO EVERTON

Arsenal 1-0 win over West Brom on Sunday ensured that  they secured a UEFA champions league spot again.It appears the only spot Arsenal aspire to get from season to season is the 4th spot.Their position was confirmed following defeat of Everton by Man City 2-3.And with this loss,the gap between Arsenal and Everton in 5th place is now 7 points with just one more game for each team to end the season.

Reviewing the Arsenal 2013|2014 season, it is a a sad tale.Arsenal was on top of the BPL for most part of this season only to slip along the way.The challenge for the management is to investigate why the team pick up early and lose the steam at tail end of the season.

The FA cup final comes up on 17th of this month and Arsenal will face Hull City at Wembley.I hope Arsenal win to end long wait for a trophy. In preparing for next season,the club must spend to get prolific scorers.

PRIVATIZATION OF NEPA FOR BLACK OUT

Six months after privatization of NEPA, the government agency responsible for power supply in Nigeria,we are yet to get regular supply of electricity.

The situation has taken us back 6 years due to crazy bills that were served on consumers.The more black out that you have, the higher your energy bill will be.Nigerians are wondering the purpose of privatization of NEPA.The buyers are complaining seriously about the depth of problems in NEPA.These buyers cannot be serious because series of checks in form of due dilligence must have been carrried before venturing to buy the national energy company.

Let us leave the problems of purchase aside and talk about the pains of Nigerians on daily basis.There are severe heat wave these days.Millions are spent to buy generations and petrol to power homes on daily basis across the country.The snag is when will Nigerians enjoy stable power supply? Artisans that need power are worse while big manufacturing companies are passing the huge cost of production boosted by constant power failures to consumers.People can longer sleep well in  their homes unless they have generators.

In other climes,power supply is taking for granted but in Nigeria.it is exclusive preserve of those that can afford all kinds of alternate power supply.South Africa generates 5  times energy needs of the citizens while Nigeria cannot generate a quarter of what our citizens need.This is food for thought since our GDP size is bigger than that of South Africa.

In a classic fashion reminding every soccer fans of the glorious years of Real Madrid.Madrid. Beat Bayern Munich 0-4 in the second leg of. UEFA champions League semi-final match.With two goals from Sergio Ramos and Christiano Ronaldo.

The match took place at Alliance Arena in Germany.The first leg was won by Madrib at home last week.Madrid have qualified for final of the UCL after 12 years absence.Interestingly,Bayern Munich, the current champion was beating evert clubblack and blue at this stage.They failed to reproduce that form today.The exit conform the jinx that no club has been able to win the trophy in modern era back to back.The presence of Arjen Robben and Ribery could not avert defeat for Bayern.Frank Ribery was even substituted which was a clear indication that Madrid was better on tactics for the game.Madrid now awaits the winner between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea tomorrow at Stamford bridge.And with Jose Mourinho getting away with his tactics lately, there is likelihood that the Chelsea manager will get away with this one.The first leg in Athletico ending in barren drawa,the match will be an interesting one.

CONDOLING WITH FAMILIES OF THOSE ON BOARD FLIGHT MH370

Our hearts go to the families of those on board Malaysian plane Flight MH370 which went missing since March 8,2014.

This is a difficult moments for families and loved ones .We pray that the Good Lord will grant them all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss .We understand your pains during this period but we also know that God is a comforter. He will comfort you.

We appreciate all concerted efforts at recovering the remains of the plane using advance technologies. We will have a breakthrough in the search.

BOKO-HARAM : WE MUST CHANGE STRATEGIES

Boko Haram struck again in Abuja killing and injuring so many people. I am just wondering,why we budget so much for  defence in our budget every year.This year, the budget for Defence or call it security is the biggest with education coming very close.

When preparing the national budget, how do we get our estimates approved for various expenditure. We know that income angle does not much challenge except when the National Assembly disagrees with Mr, President on oil benchmark.Curiously, the National Assembly have never advised the Executive to come up with strategies on how non-oil revenues will increase each year.I think the basis for discussion yearly should be need to diversify from oil revenues to other key areas that will sustain us beyond oil that has soiled us.

Back to security issue,how do we get estimates for security expenditure? How much do we spend on armaments and war heads? Most importantly how well do we lay emphasis on surveillance and military intelligence? The best form of crime fighting is crime prevention.I hope we can get there very soon.My mind is agitating and could not sleep since yesterday night. It is not helpful to listen or hear news nowadays.I hate to hear about the insurgents.These are very sad days.
